The National Trust have over 470 unique cottages to choose from ranging from cabins by the sea, cosy cottages in the hills, manor houses and even a lighthouse or two. The aptly named Mustard Pot Cottage sits amongst the woodlands of the Felbrigg estate, in the privacy of its own lawned garden. As well as its charming resemblance to a small condiment pot, this two-bedroom cottage is also exceptionally cosy and oozes quirky character. We love it.

You’ll experience sweeping sea views and the thrill of living on a cliff-edge in this stunning cottage, situated behind an actual lighthouse - which still operates today (minus the loud foghorn). Quietly nestled on the Exmoor Heritage Coast, you can pick up the South West Coast Path direct from the door for hikes to nearby Lynmouth and beyond, or go inland towards Watersmeet to enjoy its wooded valley and popular tea-garden.

Stay at one of Suffolk’s oldest (and most intriguing) houses for a getaway with a difference. As well as cottages, the National Trust also have a large range of bothies and bunkhouses situated in some spectacular locations that are within easy reach of national parks, beautiful countryside, and unspoilt coastlines. This large, 16-person bunkhouse sits within the stunning Ilam park estate. With epic limestone hills, winding rivers and ancient woodland all around, this remote bunkhouse is perfectly placed for groups looking to get active outdoors and explore the glorious surroundings of the Peak District.
