An Adventure-Ready Packing List
With over 40 countries under their belt, Emma and Steffan from InWanderment love nothing more than exploring new places. From trekking coastal paths to exploring woodland trails, they love sharing their tried and tested advice for the perfect hot summer escape.
Our new Hot Summer Collection is inspired by just that: clothing, kit and accessories made for those looking for some sun-soaked adventures. Read on to learn more about their go-to packing list for travels that combine mountain strolls with afternoons relaxing on the beach.
Your Perfect Day Out
Looking for the perfect day out that takes you from the trails to the beach? Look no further, because we’ve got you covered. It’s not just about practicality when it comes to packing, it’s about looking and feeling great too. So, here’s our ultimate packing list for a day of adventure and relaxation.
Keep The Bugs At Bay
If mosquitoes are an issue in the area you’re visiting, go for loose-fitting long-sleeved clothing or opt for clothing that has built-in insect repellent for an extra layer of protection. And don’t forget to spray any other exposed areas, such as your hands, face, and ankles.
Sun Care
A packable sun hat is an absolute essential when the sun is high at midday. Choose one that covers both your face and neck for maximum protection. We recommend a White Rock Hat, which has a wide brim for extra coverage and Hydro Cool crystals stitched in the head band to keep your head cool in the heat. Sunglasses are also a must-have to make your day even better. Choose glasses that are light and won’t fall off when you’re taking big steps.
Keep Dry & Cosy
If you’re headed to higher altitudes, bear in mind that there will be a significant temperature drop compared to sea level, roughly one degree Celsius per 500m. Plus, wind chill can set in, so make sure you pack a second shirt in your backpack to change into at the top. A small microfibre towel is also handy to dry yourself off and can be used later at the beach. And once you're dry and cosy in your fresh shirt, pop on a technical mid-layer to prepare for the descent.
Hydration Is Key
Staying hydrated is crucial, especially in hot weather. Make sure you take plenty of water for the duration of your walk. We recommend using a water filtering bottle that can be filled at any free-running water source, allowing you to dramatically cut down on weight and stay hydrated throughout the day. Just make sure there are points along your route where you can stop to fill up.
Stock Up On Snacks
Who doesn’t love snacking? Take the opportunity to enjoy some high-energy snacks like flapjacks and peanut bars to keep you going. Avoid chocolate bars if you don't want to be left with melted chocolate on your hands and sunglasses when it gets too bright.
Beach-Ready
Swimwear, shorts, or a beach dress can be easily rolled up and take up very little space in your bag. Choose something light and airy that can be packed down, but is easy to change into once you make it to the coast. Put on some flip flops, roll out your microfibre towel from earlier, and lie back for some well-deserved you-time on the beach.
Take Some Snaps
And last but not least, don’t forget to pack your camera to capture all the amazing moments and experiences along the way. We’d love to see your journey too!
