Mountain Training is the network of awarding organisations for qualifications and skills training in the UK and Ireland, and our official skills course partner. Through their Hill Skills, Mountain Skills and Rock Skills courses, delivered by approved providers across the UK and Ireland, we want more people to find the skills and confidence they need to explore.
Mountain Training’s skills courses cover all the essential techniques for a lifetime of independent adventures and their flexibility allows you to choose the most appropriate one for you:
Hill Skills – Learn what kit to pack, how to navigate in the hills, how to look after the environment and how to deal with various hazards and emergency scenarios
Mountain Skills – Learn how to overcome the different challenges and hazards you will encounter on steeper/rockier terrain and how to look after yourself when further from help in an emergency
Rock Skills Introduction – Always wanted to try rock climbing outdoors? With this course you will get loads of opportunity to climb on rock for the first time as well as become familiar with putting on a harness, tying-in to a rope and belaying
Rock Skills Intermediate – Become a competent ‘second’; belaying a leader, climbing up after them and removing protection as you go. You will learn to place traditional protection to build anchors for top/bottom ropes and gain the skills needed to independently climb with your partner all over the UK and Ireland.
Rock Skills Learn to Lead Sport Climbs – For climbers who want to lead routes that are sport bolted. Perfect for those who want to transition from indoor leading to outdoors or those who want to progress their outdoor climbing
Rock Skills Learn to Lead Trad Climbs – For climbers who want to learn to lead traditional (trad) routes. This involves placing your own protection in the rock as you climb. You will have already seconded routes graded ‘Very Difficult’ or led sport routes indoors or outdoors
Snow+Rock are supporting people to participate in Mountain Training’s skills courses by offering them a 15% discount*, instore and online, so they can equip themselves with the kit they need to continue exploring more.
Approved providers will share access to the discount within their pre-course information so you can take advantage of it before or after you attend the course.
How to claim your discount:
