When exposed to bug infested areas in warmer climates the risk of bites and stings from mosquitos, ticks, ant, flies, chiggers, midges and other biting insects are high. Their antennae detect lactic acid and carbon dioxide in our breath and from our skin. In fact, mosquitos are so sensitive to these chemicals that they can detect them from 100 feet away.
Once they’ve found you they are able to insert their proboscis through most types of clothing. Warding insects off or killing them on contact with an impregnated fabric is essential to help reduce the risk of itchy insect bites or contracting insect-borne, life threatening diseases such as Malaria, West Nile Virus, Dengue Fever and Lyme Disease.
To look, touch or smell the clothing you wouldn’t know it was any different to the rest of your wardrobe. The insect repellent treatment is odourless and does not interfere with the wicking properties of technical clothing.
With long sleeves, high collars and full length trousers you can achieve a high level of protection and reduce the quantity of sticky or oily sprays and lotions applied.

Malaria Risk Areas
Malaria is found in more than 100 countries, mainly in tropical regions including areas of Africa and Asia, Central and South America, Haiti and the Dominican Republic, parts of the Middle East, and some pacific islands. Around 1,400 travellers were diagnosed with Malaria after returning to the UK in 2012. Check here if the area or region you're going to is a malaria risk.
Permethrin
Permethrin is a synthetic version of a natural chemical called pyrethrum, found in chrysanthemum flowers. The insect repellent treatment is a permethrin formula tightly bonded to fibres during the drying process. Chrysanthemums are a natural deterrent to pesky insects. Permethrin masks your natural scent, blocking the stimulation of insect's antennae, preventing them from coming into contact with your skin.

With appropriate care, you can prolong the life of your insect repellent clothing. Here are a few simple tips:
- Avoid dry cleaning as it will strip away the repellent treatment
- Machine wash on a low heat or hand wash
- Avoid fabric softeners
- Leave to dry naturally
- If required, iron on a low heat
